Happy birthday to Aniston Today!

Camden and Cayson came up Thursday evening. On Friday afternoon I took them to Salt Lake. We went with Grandpa up Millcreek Canyon and hiked up the Bowman Trail. Jase is staying with Grandma and Grandpa for his Math conference and he is a runner and came along to run with me. We hiked with them for a while and then took off running. We went farther along that trail than I have ever been. We still didn’t reach the Desolation Trail - we would have to crest Baker Pass first. We did reach the sign where the trail from Alexander Basin met this trail. We talked the whole time. 239 floors. I was over 22,000 steps by the end of the day. It was nice to get to know Jase better - I can’t think of another scenario in which I would talk with him straight for an hour and forty five minutes!

On the hike, Cayson had a fall and got scraped up. Camden and Cayson stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Saturday and then bringing them Sunday after church when they come for dinner. Grandma said they were having fun with Jase in spite of the difference in ages. Jase is the first grandchild to get the $100 for beating Grandpa in tennis! He did that Saturday, so he must not have been too sore from our run.

Kim had the day off Wednesday. After we went to the gym she drove to Salt Lake with Aaron to pick up the snow cone flavors that we need for our job. Actually we have TWO jobs this summer for our snow cone catering. One of the employees who had worked at Security Metrics moved to Jive, a software company, and is in human resources there. So she tracked us down to cater their summer party (at two locations on Pioneer Day).

Wednesday evening we watched The Theory of Everything, at home with Amazon Instant Video. That was the first time we’ve rented a movie through them. The movie was good, but not as good as we had hoped. I would have liked more science (there wasn’t much), but I understand it was made for the general population. Kim would have liked more emotion - the actor playing his wife was rather lacking in it.

This week we finally got everything cleaned up from the flood. The people from Servpro came and cleaned the tile and hung the doors back up. We nearly have the house put back together. This Friday is our first Snow Cone job, so we do have snow cone stuff around.

Thursday through Saturday Corin went to Camp Helaman. Next week he has Especially for Youth and will stay with Grandma and Grandpa.

I have been reading Natural Born Heroes, a book by Christopher McDougall, the author of Born to Run. It’s quite inspiring - the main (true) story line is about some rebels on Crete during World War II who kidnapped a German General. In doing so, they had to conquer incredible obstacles and exhibit extreme endurance and strength. The message in that and other stories is that we have the capacity for heroic action, but we need to tap back into our power with natural forms of exercise (swimming, climbing, running, jumping, throwing, lifting).

Our Internet has been down (off and on) for a couple days, which is difficult, especially when you run an Internet based business. Mom and Dad and Jase are coming to dinner today after their church time. Tomorrow is our 3rd Anniversary!! Kim works all day and we knew we would have kids this weekend so we will celebrate it later.

See the incredible picture of a part of Mom and Dad’s garden. I haven’t seen any finer in any arboretum or botanical garden.
