12Pics/100 year old pics for Memorial day, Cayson birthday/Family
Christopher and Kim Update May 25, 2020
Happy Memorial Day. And Happy Birthday to Dad on Thursday!
Janelle, congratulations on getting on the seminary council.
Cayson’s 14th birthday was Friday.
Since it’s memorial day, I’ll post a few pics of my Grandma and Grandpa. I’ve got two pictures of my Grandpa Rex Norman, from 100 years ago! In the first one, he is dressed up in uniform, and in the second pic, he is eating watermelon with his friends (with chickens walking around). Wendy, Jeni, and I have been doing lots of family history - labeling photos, adding the year if we can, and also putting them onto Family Search. We are also collecting memories, in our own family Dropbox folders, and also adding to Family Search in the “Story” area of the memories section. Right now I’m focusing on my Mom’s side of the family -
Cayson and I went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house to work on Tuesday, doing more digging for the sprinkling system project mostly. I was going to drop him off at his Midvale house afterward but he ended up being able to stay until Thursday. Wednesday I had him “work towards completion” on a bunch of schoolwork and he was amazed at how much he got done.
Thursday I took Cayson with me to get some larger rocks up at West Mountain. We had a lot of fun - we spent some time making the area safer for others. Most people when they gather rocks go to the lowest easiest area, which has literally made a “hole” in the rock slope with steeper sides and the possibility for many rocks sliding down at once.
So like ski resorts who spark their own avalanches on purpose, we knocked down hundreds and hundreds of rocks to fill in the hole. It also brought lots more good rocks within reach for those who don’t dare hike all over the slope like we do.
This week Kim worked a couple days at one of her building’s entrances, checking temperatures and asking people questions - part of the Covid protocol. She enjoyed the change, especially at the less busy entrance.
I’m participating in a giveaway this week with some of my online friends - see the link below:
Saturday evening Kim and I watched “I Still Believe”, a Christian movie made by the same people as “I Can Only Imagine”. Very good. I’ve been making progress on the window well rock project - pic below. Friday evening we went over to Corin and Kylie's house and had dinner with them.. Kim brought chicken and Kylie made a potato bar. It was fun to visit.
Sunday we had Krystal over for breakfast and church and got to chat with them. Conner and Amber are going to buy a trailer and live there while they prepare for their cross country trip. We also went to Cayson's drive by awards ceremony at his school on Thursday eve. We will see Courtney and Seth and Integrity tonight, and then Seth and Aspen tomorrow eve.
Have a super week! Christopher and Kim
I was going to tease you that there were actually 13 photos, not 12 ... but then I realized the chicken photo was a duplicate. I made a collage and got this latest letter up on the WriteOn blog. For current things, I think that is the key, do it quick, within a day or so, so the emails don't get lost/forgotten. I do love gmail though, really, if I had the time I could go back and find all the letters from years! At some point space would run out and they would be deleted. I know Mom has saved some of the letters in dropbox too.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't done any parades ... I was invited to a wedding one way early on, but ... me and cars, it just really isn't appealing.
Coop can work ahead in school (some things he'd have to wait one, if they require a "live" session or some flipgrid feedback or something) ... but for the most part he COULD have worked forward and finished a couple weeks early. He hasn't done so. Colton's school is not quite as on top of things, often he has to wait and check for new assignments each day. But, they were pretty much done on Friday (May22) ... this week is for catchup (he's caught up) so ... I've told him not to make it obvious to Cooper that he'd "done" ...
I had to have a temp check at one dentist, but not the other (alas, I've been referred to a specialist). Colton had to have a temp check at his orthodontist visit (I feel like I have to write out "orthodontist" to differentiate it from an "orthopedic" visits ... not that Colton is seeing that type of doctor right now, but Callahan is!) ... just ortho ... could be either.
Be careful with your rock avalanches!
