Dear Kids
Here’s Dad (grandpa) with another letter. My last letter to all our kids was 5 Sep 2016.
Here’s a recap of the past week or so.
16 October 2016 – Sunday. We went to our 9-12 church meetings. I drove back to choir practice, at the home of Steve and Julie Nelson. Julie is our new choir director. We had a very large group. Julie’s good friend, Marshall McDonald has arranged a number of choir pieces, and Julie has his permission to copy them and use them. We headed out about 3:30 for the 4:00 dinner in PG with Chris and Kim. We had a nice dinner and visit. Camden and Cayson were there, and Krystal and Courtney and Seth, and Seth and Aspen, and Aaron We drove the boys back to their apartment. Sandy was there this time.
17 October 2016 – Monday. I got out the door about 7:50 to deliver the Lexus to the Larry Miller Collision place to finally get it repaired. I signed some papers. Scottie appeared and gave me a ride back to my house. Thanks Scottie. I made two phone calls and set up appointments to see the eye doctor, and the ear doctor, both on Thursday, 27 Oct. Marilyn picked up Margie for VT. The cleaning people arrived and started in on the list Margie had provided. Margie returned, and the cleaning people finished up.
19 October 2016 – Wednesday. We headed out about 11:30 in the truck, and worked at the CHL. We quit about 4:10 and walked over to the CC to get the truck: stopped at Sprouts and Quality Flower for three flats of pansies, $44.
20 October 2016 – Thursday. It was a very cold 27º. Most of the cannas are zapped, as well as some of the impatiens. I hauled out the pond plants and put them into four 5 gallon buckets. We took the truck and went out to dinner about 5:30, Chuckarama. We got stuffed.
21 October 2016 – Friday. I got on to SalesForce, about 7:45. I had 4 phone calls. Margie joined me after the first call. There were lots of cases about the E-Mail that just went out about unreserving names, two year rule. Camden and Cayson arrived about 12:45. I started the boys to raking leaves. We all worked in the yard for about 4 hours. The boys made a big leaf pile by the sand pile, and got in and covered up, and took photos. Margie and boys ripped out lots of spent plants, and lots of cannas. The boys and I cut off lots of hostas and ferns. We worked until 4:30, and came in for food for the boys. We got out again and cleaned up all the messes. Cayson lost his ring in the big leaf pile. I drove the boys back to their apartment, in the truck.
22 October 2016 – Saturday. Margie and I drove in the truck out to the 6:00 dinner with Joen. We had a good dinner, and played some games: Sequence and Qwerkl and had dessert: ice cream and fudge and fruit. We got back home about 10:45. We heard the past day or two of the death of Michael Long. Then we heard also that Liz was in the hospital, with heart problems. They thought it was a heart attack, but then decided it was fluid around her heart. Hope she gets out for the viewing tonight and the funeral tomorrow. Margie signed up to bring dessert and to help with the meal and cleanup afterwards, so that will kill most of the day, along with attending the funeral. Lis has lost two of her 6 kids now through death: Mindy and now Michael. That family has had loads of difficulties in their lives.
23 October 2016 – Sunday. I got Margie up and then drove the truck to the 7:30 Stake Priesthood Meeting: on Home Teaching, Elder Holland’s conference talk. I came home to get Margie and we went to our 9-12 church meetings: Debbie and Glade Curtis on not judging, good. We worked in the Family Search room, with the Woolstons and Carma and Buck. Margie had set up a Ward Family File and put that in the Sunday bulletin and we announced it in RS and Priesthood and gave out a few cards. I dropped off Margie. We got to our house the same time the visiting teachers came. I returned to choir practice, at the ward, with guest conductor, Marshall McDonald. Steve and Julie Nelson flew up to Oregon, joining the search for the 21 year old daughter of Jon Schmidt, who has been lost for a week, hiking by herself. The outlook does not look hopeful. We had a good group. Marshall is a great conductor. He teaches at the U. I went straight from choir practice to pick up Steve, in the truck, and we went home teaching. Back home, our home teachers were there: 2:30.
Coming events for next week:
Tuesday, funeral for Michael Long
Wednesday, downtown at the CHL
Thursday, my two doctor appointments, eyes and ears, out to dinner with Chris and Kim.
Friday, my regular phone shift.
Sometime in the early part of the week, we should be getting our Lexus back. They have called twice with updates. Said they would call Tuesday.
Thanks for your letters Chris, Wendy, Alicia, and Jeni!
We love you all.
Love, Dad, Grandpa
