Blackham Update ~ Mon, Jul 10, 2017, 1:04 PM

Attempting to keep the kids entertained this summer ... it's a little hard, because while they two littles have a bunch of friends from school, they are not in the neighborhood. Any get together's require planning and travel. Cal&Kate have been willing to take the littles on "dates" with them. I remember going on dates with Chris back in the day (not double dates, although that happened too, he'd just take me and my friends or Wendy with him ... Mom didn't make him pay for gas and such if he took us). So far, Cal&Kate have taken the boys bowling, swimming and to Airborne (jumping place). Landon has taken the boys to the church several times to play basketball, and took them bowling, and to Classic Waterpark.
Cal and Kate did the "Slide the City" this past Saturday, while Gray and the boys hit Pineview for waverunning. They have been getting on the water quite a bit. Grayson hiked Mount Olympus on Monday ... and came home wiped out and ended up resting in bed most of the day.
With our backyard birds ... we are down to one duck and one goose. Girl goose has flown quite a bit, but we've always been able to get her to come back. She flew over the back wall a couple of times (completely different neighborhood, not one we could go knock on the door to get access and walk her back), and out of the back into our front yard. Yesterday I saw her take off and ran out back and she was soaring and circling, but did come back. Of the four ducks ... two took off on Monday, but I walked and found them down the street. A dog went after one and I scared the dog off, and the duck let me pick her up and carry her home (they usually don't let us touch them, or even eat out of our hands). The other duck was in the street and I was able to nudge it into our backyard. Then a couple days later, two of them took off again. One showed up in the front yard the following night and rejoined the two in the back (so funny to witness their "reunion" and quacking conversation). Then, two took off ... leaving just one.
Colton's summer basketball league will be starting up with his Wolves (year older, so 7th grade now) team. They lost a couple players, but have got new kids. His first game is tonight. Landon took the littles to an NBA summerleague game this past week (up at the Huntsman Center, U of U).
I go through phases with my Zumba ... I never stopped going completely, but I really cut down on classes for a few months. I'm back to going ever weekday (Mon-Fri) and have been practicing on my own too, often doing an additional 30min or so a day. I subbed a couple classes in June, and will be subbing all of July/August for the Tuesday class at our church. First day is tomorrow. I have a couple helpers (ladies like me, not official instructors but who like to help lead) but it's fun to be up front, and be able to pick the playlist and such.
That's all for now - Jen and da boys
