D&D Update ~ Birthdays and Baptisms and Staying Busy

Hey Family!

Quick update from us! Happy Birthday to all of the many recent birthdays (including Shane today!). I'm turning the big 4-0 this week, and I have all the aches and pains to show for it! Haha. I'm actually embracing 40. Many of my friends seem to dread it, but Danielle and I really love this stage of life that we are in, so we're happy to be entering this new decade.

Layla turned 8 on April 25th and we had a fun party for her at Thanksgiving Point with her friends (movie and lunch and ice-cream, and presents and cake at home). She is such a fun kid and has tons of friends. :)

We hope as many of you as can come will come to Layla's baptism on Saturday at 10:30. If you could let me know if you can make it, that would be great. Also, we hate to ask, but wondered if you wouldn't mind bringing something "brunchy" to eat at the house afterwards. We'll have waffles and donuts and breakfast casseroles, etc. but if you wanted to bring fruit or a veggie tray or something, that would be amazing! Attached is the invite - the Stake Center is just down the road from us past the elementary school.

It seems like Springtime is crazy busy with sports (Layla is playing soccer and Ani is in running club), activities (piano for Ani, dance and tumbling for Layla and Noe, and also the neighborhood theater company for Ani and Layla this year). We try not to overschedule these kids so we're not just constantly running around, but it's hard with so many things to do, and eager kids who want to have fun! Meanwhile, we have lots of projects constantly. Just in the last couple days we installed a new chandelier in our main floor area, planted new trees in the back, painted a giant rainbow for the kiddos' playroom, and created a closed terrarium (which was a fun activity). I read about this guy who made a terrarium and corked it off in 1960, and it's still going strong! We decided to give it a try - we'll see if ours lives!

I went to New York for work in April. It was a good trip and we were able to accomplish a lot with two of our vendors (Yext and Thatcher+Co). We have a big project with Yext, where we are trying to make all 19,000 Church meetinghouses findable in local search when someone says "Hey Siri, find a Church near me." Right now, we get beat out by pretty much every other Church, but we have 3,750 locations with local listings, local websites, and actively managed ratings and reviews and in those locations, we show up in the top three of results. We're trying to take that worldwide in the next two years. We were also able to catch Hugh Jackman in The Music Man on Broadway and he was incredible. It was a good trip, but I'm really glad I don't have to travel for work often!

We were heartbroken to hear about Scott and Amy's backyard neighbor who was hit and killed by a motorcycle that he was trying to slow down on their street - leaving a wife and five young kids. Scott talked to him just 10 minutes before. I don't even know this family, but he's around my age and it's affected to just hear about something that could have easily happened to any of us! So sad. Our prayers are with them - and with Scott's family, as this has to have affected them closely. Lots of sadness and senseless death in the world - close to home and also as a result of wars and political unrest.

We hope you're all doing well and staying healthy. We hope to see as many of you as can come Saturday to Little L's baptism.

Thanks!
