Westra update: Fri. Dec. 9, 2022
Hi Kids,
Amy returned home from Europe Wed. and Alicia and Adria left for Denmark yesterday.
Jen, we found my little written history on Cory Matthew (after looking for 42 years!) going through things before the move, but now we don't know where it is again! We will get it to you when we find it again. But I made another "fun family find" this morning---several copies of Chris's Missionary Farewell--with every member of our family participating, even Derek speaking at age 5 1/2 and Shane at age 11. Wendy and Jeni doing two musical numbers. The cover is a picture of the Jordan River Temple, drawn by Shane at age 11!
The grab bars were installed for my exercise pool yesterday, which makes it nice and easier to get in and out. I am sure enjoying my pool, larger than my prior one and an automatic cover!
Last night Shane and Calder came over for a spaghetti dinner. Rella had a dance concert, so we fixed a plate for her to eat later. It was good to "practice" fixing dinner for just a couple family guests as I am getting used to my new induction stove top, and seeing what extra pans I need. Tonight I will go with Shane to Rella's dance concert at Timpanogus High School and Dad with keep company with Calder at home, since Calder didn't want to go.
The landscapers have worked hard putting in trees and ornamental grasses and small rocks in the beds, even in the cold weather. They were hoping to get the sod in, but decided it better wait until spring. The fence workers have started working on the fence posts, even with snow on the
ground.
Chris worked here Tues. and Thurs. Derek has been building shelves in our big storage room when he can find the time with his busy schedule. Derek and Danielle came Sunday to style the office shelves and stayed after we left for dinner at Chris & Kim's, and we came back to find the shelves done beautifully and mirrors hung and the floating shelves put on the wall and styled on top and a picture hung, etc., so it was lovely to come home to!
Shane has been helpful with computer stuff, etc. when needed and the VOIP phone set up. It works well and is nice and loud for us to hear and cordless phones in 4 places, so that has been good since the cell reception for our cell phone hasn't been great at one bar. Our temporary phone # for the VOIP phone is 801-327-2252. Shane has arranged for it to be set to our old number 801-272-2448, which we are all used to. The phone company said it could take up to 4-5 weeks for that to happen. So you can call us at this temp. number in the mean time.
Derek ordered a 2nd cell phone so we will both have one, but it won't arrive until after Christmas. We will let you know the phone number when we get it.
Scott got his 2nd back procedure over with, on his other side, which should help with his back pain. He was sick the entire time Amy was gone and is sure glad to have her back home! He had to go to work sick a couple days to get away from the demolition noise going on at their house.
Dad went to the dermatologist on Tues. and they took another biopsy. We haven't received the lab results yet. He has his next Moh's procedure next Thurs., his 4 one in two months. I hope the latest biopsy doesn't require him having still another one!
Dec. is passing quickly---I need to get working on our annual Christmas newsletter (I, meaning Derek)..........
Hope all is going well with everyone. Love, Mom
