Nelva and Arnold came to dinner and PR on New Year's Eve. We had a nicetime--just so hard for Arnold to hear. Then New Year's Day, in the evening, Nelva fell in her kitchen and could tell she broke bones. She screamed for 15 min. trying to get Arnold to hear and help her--he was in the bedroom watching TV with earphones on extremely loud for him to hear the show. She had to crawl and grab a plant and bang it on the floor over and over.
He finally heard and called the ambulance which took her to the hospital. She broke her femur in 4 places! She had surgery on Friday. They fixed 3 of the breaks and said the 4th was little and they thought it would heal on its own.
Today she is being transferred to a rehab facility in Lehi for at least a week. She can't put any weight on her left leg. We will go visit her there.
Arnold had also gone there after his bike accident. It will be a struggle for her for about 3 months to get all healed. She has osteoporosis. It's good they left the ramp around the back that Randy made when Arnold was injured. It is a steep ramp and winter weather will be slippery, but it will accommodate a wheel chair. There is no way to get into their house that doesn't have stairs.
So, remember her in your prayers. And other family members with needs.
We were invited to Chris & Kim's for dinner last night. The Taylor kids gave them a big smoker out on their back patio for Christmas. So he's joined the club of men in the family doing meats---and they eat lots of meat, so give them any tips as they learn. They have cooked a brisket and a big chuck roast so far. It was good. Hannah & Camden were there, and Seth & Aspen & 1-year-old Ginny (they are expecting a boy later this month or early Feb., and Aaron and Abbi. And Cayson--he has moved back in with them for awhile.
Shane & Alicia's family got home Sat. from Hawaii and had a fun time. The girls start back at BYU tomorrow.
Jaiden will be getting home from about 10 days in Maryland, visiting her fiancé's family. She got her diamond ring, and now it is official.
Wendy and Rick got home Sat. from their work cruise. She said it was much busier than usual, with lots of interpreting.
We had a nice dinner and visit with Scott and Amy before Christmas and all their kids and cute grandkids--except Alyssa and Jed, who was sick. McKenna's family was there from Seattle and Kellen & Natalie from out of town. And Taylee, and Kemery's cute little girls. We had fun reading to the girls and cute little Eddie. Kemery and Mitch are expecting a baby boy in February.
Janika has invited us to dinner this coming Sat., so that will be fun to spend some time with them and their 2 little boys.
Have a great week!
