It’s been a little while since our last Blackham update,
which is not to say we haven’t had anything to write about ... quite contraire!
We’ve been so busy having fun I just haven’t had time to write.
Ever since Gray started the new job, and I got my new body
*Ü* ... we’ve been doing lots of new things, as a couple, as a family ...
here’s a little of what we’ve been up to.
Together Time: Gray and I have been going out on lots of
dates lately, and although we’ve done plenty of the dinner/movie types, we’ve
tried to break out of that routine as well. We’ve gone golfing, played tennis
and racquetball, had a couples massage, gone bike riding ... even test drove a
tandem bike which was fun (and maybe we’ll buy one!). Gray even attended a Pampered Chef party with
me (and ended up ordering more than I would have on my own). It’s been great
having Landon a little older and more responsible, we’ve been able to do some
of these things (or other quick donut or ice cream runs, even a quick Saturday
morning breakfast) for mini dates, leaving him in charge rather than having to
hire a babysitter.
In addition to getting out with me, and doubling with some
friends and family, Gray has resumed his Daddy dates with his boys, getting out
with each boy individually.
Family Fun: As a family, we’ve packed our Saturday’s and
some other days full of fun...
We had a big birthday bash for Keaton (his first friend
party) and we rented a big bounce house and a cotton candy machine. We launched
water balloons too, which was the hit of the party. On Labor Day, we went to
the Hill Air Force Base Museum, then the Dinosaur Park in Ogden, and then
launched rockets that evening. We went out to dinner at Red Robin for Landon’s
birthday, and Keaton was jumping up and down (literally) when he won a stuffed
Shrek toy on the claw game in the restaurant entry. The following Saturday we
went up to Park City and rode the Alpine Slide and Alpine Coaster. Cooper would
have been old enough to go on both (with an adult) but he was having no part of
that! He’s our scaredy-cat Coop, afraid of rain, swimming, elevators,
fireworks, and America’s Funniest Home Videos.
For a family night, we went bowling. The boys had a blast,
especially Cooper. He just wanted to take turn after turn. I let him have a
couple of my turns. Unfortunately, you couldn’t really tell when I had bowled
or when it had been Cooper (read ... Jen threw gutterballs). We’ve also visited the Aquarium preview
exhibit, the Bean Museum and gone geocaching. Another interesting item is that
we filled a big cookie jar with dirt and collected some red ants. We’ve been
watching them tunnel and build and it has been a real hit with the boys and all
their friends.
Well, there you go for a Blackham family update.
