Hi family! This week we have had some fun, like me and Rella having only 3 hours of school starting on Tuesday, or going out to eat at a new burger place.
On Monday we went to school for 6 hours still, :(, I had Mando, and we worked on our cars for the upcoming Pinewood Derby race.
On Tuesday, the half days started. I had my parent teacher conference at around 1:40, then Rella had hers later.
Wednesday we had our Activity Days talent show. Rella did a headstand, (with hands too) And I played the Mandolin. Afterwards we played a game of Telestrations with the other girls.
Eventually, on Thursday, we were not knowing that we would totally forget what happened.
On Friday we went to school, then we got ready for Dad to bring Mom to the Glorious Airport. Calder tagged along because Dad wanted to show him the planes.
Later We went to a restaurant called The Habit. It was very good! We had a movie night and went to bed.
Saturday we went to see Zootopia. It was pretty fun to go to the movies.
Sunday we went to the Stake center for Stake conference. Mom was still not home yet, so it was just the kids and Dad. Later, Mom returned from the Airport and we went to a potluck for newer people in the ward. yay!
We had a good week and we hope you did too!
Type to you next week!
Addition from Alicia:
The girls had half days all week (except Monday) due to parent teacher conferences. Both girls are doing well in school...their teachers are very happy to have them in their classes, which is good to hear.
It's been very rainy here all week, so the kids have been a little cooped up. Calder and I (Alicia) went to the Relief Society Cocoa Club on Monday. He loved playing with the toys and the other kids.
We've been anxiously watching our baby hummingbird grow! The other egg never hatched, sadly. The baby hummingbird is almost filling up the whole nest. It's fun to peek in at it.
Thursday was the RS Birthday Party...we played two truths and a lie and had a readers theater put on by the presidency. It was fun to get to know some of the sisters better.
Calder finished the language portion of his speech assessment this week. The speech therapist said he did really well! He actually scored in the average range, which is huge! His articulation is very poor, though, so she is pushing for him to be admitted to the speech class. His articulation assessment will be done this Wednesday. Calder and I also met with the preschool psychologist on Friday for some other assessments. He breezed through the tests...at one point the psychologist said she had never gone past that point with a preschooler before and that it was uncharted territory for her. She is concerned that Calder would not be academically challenged enough in the speech preschool, but I feel there is so much for him to learn socially in addition to the intensive speech therapy that it would even out. The speech therapist is hoping that we will be having his IEP meeting by the end of the month, which would be fantastic!
I headed out to Utah to photograph a wedding for my friend's daughter...the wedding was on Saturday, so I flew out Friday evening and came home this afternoon. My sister and niece picked me up from the airport and I stayed with Dad and Julie. It was so good to see them! On Saturday I visited Derek and Danielle and the girls (got to meet Noelle at last!) before heading to the Mt Timpanogos Temple for the wedding. We were on a tight schedule for the photos, since the mother of the bride wanted one of the photos from the temple printed for the reception. I went straight to the print shop to edit one picture and get it printed and mounted. I just had time to stop and visit our friends (the Gaskins) before heading to the reception to do more photos. I got to see a lot of friends from our old ward and catch up on all the news. It sounds like our renters are fitting into the ward well...I'm very glad. Weddings are fun to shoot, but very tiring! I got back to my dad's around 10. I flew home today.
Shane did a great job holding down the fort with the kids! He took them out to dinner and to see Zootopia. They had a great time. It's nice to be back together!
Adria and Rella have both been using an app called DuoLingo to study languages. Adria is learning French and Rella is keeping up on her Portuguese. It's fun to hear them practicing.
Upcoming events for this week...more half days (we're back to a normal schedule on Thursday), New Beginnings (for Adria) and the Pinewood Derby (for all of us) on Wednesday, and the Primary Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. The girls and I are going to see a high school production of "The Little Mermaid" on Friday with some of our friends from the ward for a fun Girls Night Out.
I added a lot more than I thought I would! Have a happy Pi day tomorrow! We are having the sister missionaries over for our annual pie dinner.
Love you all!
The CA Westra Fam
