Hello family!
We're a little behind schedule
on getting our update out, so I think we'll just do a few quick highlights.
- Adria's best friend Lilly came to visit us for a few
days...her dad was coming to town for a conference, so she flew in with
him and then stayed with us. Adria made sure she had all her school
responsibilities taken care of so she could take a few days off from school.
We had a beach day (visiting tide pools on the coast and then kayaking in
one of our local lagoons), a city day (Alcatraz, sourdough bread,
Ghirardelli Square, cable cars, Seward Slides, and ice cream), and an
amusement park day (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom with the whole family). We
stopped by the Oakland Temple on our way home after Six Flags. Adria loved
having Lilly here and we were all sad to hand her back over to her dad on
Saturday morning!
- Rella went horseback riding with her Girl Scout Troop
on Wednesday and had a great time learning about horses. They will be
doing horseback riding at their summer camp in July and August.
- I had Calder's transitional IEP today at the school. We
didn't get through it all, so I have to go back. This is the meeting where
we get the kindergarten teachers, school speech therapist, and principal
all up to speed on Calder.
- Adria had her palate expander placed today...we need to
tighten it 26 times (once a day for 26 days or so). They'll check the
progress in about a month when they put on the bottom braces. Rella is a
tricky customer...she has way too many teeth for her cute little mouth, so
the orthodontist is recommending that we have an oral surgeon remove 10
teeth (4 permanent teeth and 6 baby teeth), then we will see how things
are looking in a few months to decide what to do next.
- The Activity Day girls had a toga party for their end
of year celebration. Rella had a great time with her Activity Days
friends. Adria and Lilly participated in a service project helping weed
the front yard of an elderly couple in our ward.
- Shane and I both taught lessons (YW and Elders Quorum)
yesterday.
- We just busted open our last couple of boxes of Girl
Scout Cookies that we've been stashing in the crawl space. We're super
proud of ourselves for waiting to eat them.
Just 7 days of school left
(not including weekends)!
Shane, Alicia, Adria, Rella, Calder
