Hola Family,
Happy Birthday Mom! Hope you have a great one! It was great to be with you and Dad yesterday working in the garage. Sounds like the cave-men are there today securing the cave, so that we can all live to be as old as you and Dad (and not fall into the expanse of open earth that looms underneath the picnic table where we congregate each Summer). :) Thanks for securing that! I'm so impressed with how organized and clean your house has become over the past months and years! It looks so good!
Here's a brief update:
We've had a busy and a mostly fun October. Several of us got strep last week (and Layla actually caught it again!) so that wasn't fun - but the rest of the month has been. :)
We took a family trip to St. George with Danielle's family (minus her brother Jake and his wife who live in Washington). We stayed at a little ranch house in Dameron Valley that had horses and goats and chickens and the girls loved that. We packed a lot in - sand dunes, petrified dunes, hiking, all-abilities park, splash-pad, carousel, visiting Rick and Wendy. It was a lot of fun. :)
We're sorry to have missed Conner's wedding - but our girls live for Halloween and they are still little and we felt like we needed to have that experience with them! They are growing up fast. I was actually really sick (I think I actually had strep and the flu at the same time) so Danielle took the girls by herself. Noelle took a while to get the hang of it, but by the end of the night, she fully understood how to get candy. :) Ani was Amelia Earhart, Layla was Vampirina (from her favorite show), Noelle was a baby Panda and Danielle was the Mommy panda. They were pretty adorable. :)
It was our 12-year anniversary last week and Danielle and I did our first over-nighter in 5 years. It was really fun and we packed a lot into 24 hours. We went to dinner at Valters (downtown), went to a Jazz game with Scott and Kemery (thanks Scott!), saw Bohemian Rhapsody, went to the Grand America spa (which is very fancy), and did some shopping and "afternoon tea" at the hotel. It was all really fun.
We're getting our kids a little more accustomed to babysitters, and we're starting to use teenage girls from the ward and stake. Alicia and the girls came and stayed with us for a couple days while Alicia did her photography sessions. I'll attach a couple photos. We joked that when Adria can drive, we're going to hire her to watch our girls for a week and I'll take Danielle to Europe. That's not a joke. I'm just counting down the years! It was great to have Alicia and the girls here and our girls absolutely loved being with their cousins.
It's been fun to see family here and there. Saw Wendy and Rick and kids in St. George, Alicia and the girls here, Scott and Kemery at the Jazz game and Rick came to my work recently. Family is so important and it's great to get together.
I've been invited to teach a night class at Utah Valley University in January and I think I'm going to do it -- on Product and Project Management. I've always wanted to try teaching to see if it is something to consider for the future, so we'll see how it goes.
Danielle and the girls got rear-ended in our MDX on Tuesday so we're dealing with insurance and the car dealership, and some whiplash for Danielle and all of that fun. Our car is at Mike Hale Acura now. No matter what, they simply cannot understand that Scott and I are two different people and that we own two different MDX's. I've tried MANY times to explain it. I even offered a guy $20 if he could fix it in the system, but all that did was transfer Scott's car to our address. So now, I just smile and go by Scott. Every time. "Hi, this is Mike Hale Acura calling, is this Scott?" "Umm..actually this is...sure, why not..., yes this is Scott." I recognize that identity theft is a real thing, but I promise you Scott, this is not deliberate.
Hope everyone is well! Talk to you soon!
Love, "Scott Edward Westra"
