Shane&Alicia Update - Music/Moving and More (June 2019)

One month until the moving truck comes and we start to head east!

Here is a quick update of what we've been up to: 

• I started my new job on May 6. I've really been enjoying it! Typically I fly from CA to UT on Sunday night, and fly back to CA on Friday; but I chose 3 weeks to work from CA (including this week). Mom and Dad have been so generous to let me stay at their house when I've been in town. 
• Alicia's been doing a great job (as always!) with taking care of the kids, the house, and arranging a bunch of the logistics (like getting bids and selecting a moving company, getting utilities switched over, etc.). 
• Our renters in the Lindon house left on May 31, and Derek and Danielle were so kind to come over and give us advice on what things to fix up before we move back. So when I'm in town, I'll be spending most evenings working on the house. Chris is also helping a ton in the yard. 
• Our ward had a "Music Festival" (talent show type deal) on Saturday, and our family performed San Francisco Bay Blues. It went okay, we of course made a lot of mistakes and didn't do as well as when we practiced in our living room, but it was still fun. • At Calder's school it was the annual Ice Cream Social last night, which Alicia was in charge of. It went well, and Alicia was quite worn out from a very long day making sure everything went smoothly. 
• It our kids' last day of school tomorrow! Adria has her promotion (even though she'll be going to middle school / jr high next year in Utah) tomorrow, and she went to the Great America amusement park today with the rest of the graduating 8th graders.
• Alicia made a cute picture collage of all the kids in Calder's class -- not an assignment or part of the PTA, she just does it as a free service. It's really cool.
• Rella has her dance recital this weekend (on Saturday and Sunday) -- she's been working on these dances all year, and we're excited to see the official performance! 
• It's been unusually warm here in the Bay Area -- over 100 degrees for a couple days. But tomorrow it will start cooling down. We are lucky to have air conditioning, a lot of people here don't!  
• Sunday is the dedication of the Oakland Temple. We enjoyed going to the open house, and are excited to do some temple work before we head back to Utah.
