Ward Party - Cat Tree - Aaron Moved Back In
We really like our new ward. We had our Ward Christmas Party Saturday evening and it was fun to meet some new people. Kim already knew some of them since she has lived around this neighborhood for so long. Kim also had her Bunco lunch with her group - they always go to a Mexican restaurant and exchange gifts, and visit for a couple hours.
Friday I went to work at Mom and Dad’s house. I figured out how to clean the ice machine, and will do that weekly when I go. I drove the truck back to their house in the morning. We borrowed the truck so we could get the Pilot serviced, and then noticed that the truck needed a lube, oil, and filter also. So we did that for our Christmas Present to them. Mom said that the truck was leaking oil, so they fixed that also.
Then Kim drove in and we all went to dinner. We planned on a Mexican restaurant up by Whitmore Library, but it was closed! So we called Kim and we all met at the Blue Lemon on Highland Drive. Our 712th date.
Kim had a really busy week - they put her at the front desk because overall they were short staffed, but they still expect her to get all her Medical Assistant paperwork done also. Aaron moved back in with us this week. He thinks the stability will help him as he starts school at UVU next semester. He came over one evening and I helped him finish the FAFSA application.
We’ve enjoyed the warm weather, but we need the colder (and wetter) weather coming this next week. Brent and Diane next door gave us a cat tree that their cat no longer uses. I’ve still been doing lots of family history work (photos and histories).
Here is Mom’s Christmas page for her website - https://www.margiesmessages.com/christmas.html, which is popular this time of year. We are doing a page on all the temples, and another on Eternal Life. Her site (and my Prosperity Poems site) are both nearing the top 100,000 sites in the world based on visitors, which is good considering that there are between 1 and 2 billion websites now (depending on how you measure it). That means she gets more traffic to her website than 99.99 percent of all sites.
Enjoy your December!

Family Christmas Party - date with Integrity - Cayson Costa Rica
Thursday we went on a birthday date with Integrity for her fourth birthday. We took her out to Slim Chicken and it was really fun. We would like to do that monthly with her - dinner date with Grandma and Grandpa. Then when we took her home Courtney said they had another surprise, and had Kim twist this “popper” that shot out pink confetti, revealing that they were having another girl. That’s what Integrity wanted, and it was fun to find out at the same time as Integrity.
Kim had a busy and rough week at work - they are understaffed and she is still covering the front desk at times. She went in early on many days to get paperwork done before the phones started ringing. I’ve had kind of a rough week with my back. It hurt for a couple days on a mild to moderate level, and then got a lot worse. I will go to the chiropractor again this morning.
Saturday was our Christmas Party - we had all the kids except for Boris and Krystal who are in Hawaii. Boris is there working as a traveling nurse and Krystal flew over this week to join him once her finals were done. Kim cooked ham and we also had a potato bar which turned out good. We did a gift exchange and also the candy bar game (Westra tradition).
We’ve got lots of pics down below from our party and some from our date with Integrity. Camden spent the weekend with us, and Kadan and Christine also, so we had to play “musical rooms” to fit everybody.
Cayson is going to Costa Rica next summer with his AP Biology class. He is working at Costa Vida to help pay for this. If you are able to contribute anything toward this goal, the link is below! Cayson says:
"I want to go to Costa Rica for the experience of what it's like to go out of the country and to expand my knowledge of how the rest of the world is structured. I will learn the value of respect for other cultures and help preserve the natural species found there.(helping build a conservation corridor) Your donation will help by allowing this experience to happen and for me to get closer to achieving my dreams of traveling the world." https://icreatelove.com/cayson/
You can see on the page the total amount needed, and the progress so far that he has made (with some help from a few others who have donated already). Any amount helps, and it can be done with a checking account or a debit or credit card. The page will let us know when anybody donates.

Happy 16th Birthday to Colton today!
Tuesday I went up and worked at Mom and Dad’s house. I went earlier because I missed the previous week due to my back and the weather. I went straight to PG High School for Cayson’s Christmas Choir Concert and met Kim there also. He did great - the school has lots of different choirs. Cayson likes it, but he doesn’t know if he is good enough to get into a choir that he would have to audition for.
On Saturday we played with Integrity. We unloaded the rock polisher and collected eggs and read books. Kim decorated cookies with her. She is always fun to be with. I only got a couple pictures this time. We talked with Vikki on Saturday, and also Krystal in the evening. Krystal flew over to Hawaii to be with Boris for a month where he is working as a traveling nurse. Krystal showed us the view out her window on the 37th floor! Incredible.
My back has still been hurting quite a bit this week. Last night we had Mom and Dad over for a cornish hen dinner and Rummikub. We just had them and Aaron.
Funny conversation between Kim and Alexa while Kim was baking sourdough bread. There’s nothing like a good conversation between a polite AI (artificial intelligence) and Kim without her hearing aids in.
Kim: “Alexa, set 30 minute timer for”… (Alexa can’t hear her)
Alexa: “Sure, what is the timer for?”
(Kim doesn’t hear Alexa’s question)
Kim (flustered): “Sorry, what’s the question?”
Alexa: “OK - Sorry, What’s the Question Timer set for 30 minutes”
Camden stayed Saturday night at an Airbnb near here, with five friends from College. He knew some of the friends from Gunnison. We were able to give him some eggs, butter, and a loaf of freshly baked sourdough bread.
Christmas Time in Pleasant Grove
Christopher and Kim Update December 27, 2021
We hope you all had a great Christmas Holiday! We enjoyed ours - Christmas Eve we went to Mom and Dad’s house and had the usual wonderful dinner of soup and breadsticks and many desserts. We did the candy bar game and Jeni made a wonderful year in retrospect video of the entire family. It’s always fun to see the themes emerge. Aaron went with us also.
Kadan and Christine stayed with us Christmas Eve and also the next night. So we had them here for Christmas Day. We opened up some presents and Aaron made breakfast and then they went sledding up American Fork Canyon with Seth and Aspen. Unfortunately, Kim hurt her ribs sledding so the remaining part of the day was harder for her.
We had a nice dinner in the evening and Seth, Courtney and Integrity came and also Conner and Amber. Camden and Cayson went sledding and joined us for dinner also. Seth and Aspen stopped by on Sunday.
Earlier in the week - on Wednesday evening I took Kim on our 714th date to Sweet Avocado, which is a new Brazilian Restaurant in Orem. We really liked it..! I sent a picture of us with our food, and a pic of the menu, to Shane and Derek since they both went to Brazil on their mission.
The James Webb Telescope is in transit to its predetermined location a million miles away. I’ve been following it live (somewhat). I’m totally fascinated by what people can do together.
