Hi Kids,
I've been meaning to write for a couple weeks with all the new beginnings going on: Happy Birthday to Landon today! We had a bunch of birthdays in Aug. and Chris's was on Tues. this week.
Rick brought Janelle up 2 weeks ago to apply to work at the MTC, where she would love to work. Rick stayed 2 nights at Shane & Alicia's and Janelle stayed at Janika's. Then Janika helped move Janelle into her apt.the following Mon. to attend BYU.
Alicia moved Adria into her dorm the same Mon. Adria has a job at a new restaurant opening at BYU called "The Library." Colton, Josh, Cayson, and Rella all started their Last year of High School on Tues.
Then Rick and Wendy brought Jaiden up Tues. of last week and stayed over one night at Sh. & Alicia's, before dropping Jaiden off at the MTC to start her mission. Jase and Ellen and their 2 boys stayed overnight also and Jared came for the evening Tues. He is enjoying his new job teaching Seminary in Saratoga Springs----they had changed his assignment from the high school to the Middle School. Maybe afraid all the high school girls would fall in love with him!
Shane and Adria and a cross-country friend of hers did a full-moon hike up Timp. Peak Wed. night into Thurs. last week. Shane said it was hard for him to keep up with the 2 18-year-olds! Jeni said Grayson and Landon did the same hike around the first of Aug. They have been doing lots of hiking. Chris has been taking Dad on a hike each week, which has been enjoyable for Dad and he's done a couple miles okay. Chris's boys have been doing camping and hiking, and Kadan and Christine got little backpacks for their two little dogs to carry their own supplies!
Scott and Grayson had an enjoyable mountain bike time together and Scott says it was fun and he wants to do more. Weather will be getting cooler though for hiking and such.
A couple family members are looking for new employment. Cooper started a new full-time job.
We babysat at Derek's and watched the Mario Bros. movie with the younger girls. Then we had a nice dinner there the next night. Derek has build a nice Sauna in their basement and a weight room for Danielle's daily workouts.
Rella is planning on taking me on a date tomorrow to the the Barbie movie if we can get tickets. Everyone has loved it and some have seen it several times!
Scott said they enjoyed the play at Hale "Catch Me if you Can" and thought we would enjoy it. So he bought tickets for us for my early birthday present and we went Friday and enjoyed it! He said it is not
the book one. While waiting for the show to start, I overheard the people in back of us talking---they thought it was the book one by the same title (like happened with Jeni's play and a different movie with the same title). It was an enjoyable show if you get a chance to go. And a funny thing----Alicia and Adria were at the same show!!
Tonight I am going to the Stake Center for a service project. Girls and Ladies 8 and older are encouraged to drop in and stay as short or long as you want over a 4-hour time period, putting together kits for refugees and different schools, etc.
We had a nice dinner at Sh. and Alicia's Sun. night and are going to D &D's this coming Sunday.
Chris has been keeping us supplied with yummy peaches. Scott invited us to come get some of his, but we've had plenty since Chris & Kim aren't canning or freezing any this year. Our tomatoes haven't been doing too well this year., so I hope it stays warm enough to set new ones and ripen a bunch more. We will plant more next year. Shane's green beans got a late start, but I saw a few baby beans starting. I've only got one little zucchini from our plant, but we bought and planted it way late. We've learned a few things looking forward to next year's garden.
Dale flew here from Texas for 3 weeks to help Nelva and Arnold out---which they sorely needed!! It's been a month since his accident. We took dinner Sat. evening and ate with them and it was nice to visit
with Dale and Greg also. Karie's son Taylor and Maddie and their 3 kids just bought a home a few houses above Shane's Lindon house, in Shane's old ward, and around the corner from Karie.
Well, I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of happenings, but need to go eat and do my swim!
