Saturday was a busy day!
The pinewood derby is tomorrow, so Gray was having the
official weigh-in at our garage from 9:00-11:00. Some of that time was spent
finishing up cars too. The kids had a
primary activity over at the church. We walked over, but I had to bring Colton
back home because he was a stinker in more ways than one. When it was over,
Cooper had his soccer game. He’s really enjoyed playing and I’m glad we were
able to get him on a team. He has one or two games left.
It was Callahan’s
last soccer and basketball game. Unfortunately, the games overlapped ... he elected to go to basketball. The soccer
team still managed a win without him, but basketball was the championships to
determine 1st and 2nd place. Callahan had a really
awesome game and scored several points and had a couple good assists too. They
were ahead for a bit, but the other team (undefeated, although we had tied them
in the pre-season) managed to pull ahead right at the end to win by three.
Right after the game, Callahan had a birthday party at
Hollywood Connection. I dropped him off there and then went onto my soccer
game. I’ve really enjoyed playing again, although I’m not sure I’m any good or
even if I’m getting any better. I usually feel it’s a pretty good workout
though.
It was such a sunny day Saturday. Gray worked on the
sprinklers while the kids played outside. Cooper’s cheeks are quite sunkissed,
and Landon’s arm, where it was white from his cast, got burned bright red! Keaton
and Callahan have been struggling a little with athlete’s foot. They both would
probably benefit from bare feet, but Callahan’s especially is constantly out
playing basketball ... and we usually encourage him to keep his shoes on
because his feet smell SO bad when he takes his shoes off. After his full day
Saturday, his feet were really hurting him, his big toe had been rubbed raw and
his toe was red and swollen (similar to mine several months ago).
Gray had kept busy at work, assuming some new responsibilities
there. He’s also in demand as a workout partner (racquetball for me, biking
with his boss, rock climbing with a co-worker) and he spends more time than me
in the kitchen cooking (he made a cilantro pesto and carrot muffins last
night). He’s got two derbies this week,
and two more next week. He’s a busy boy!
