Blackham Basketball
Basketball season has begun! Callahan is on two teams (both
playing competitively), Keaton is doing Jr. Jazz and Landon will be working as
a referee.
Callahan has two games and two practices a week, and that’s
still not enough for him. He had his first game on Wednesday night. He scored
the first two points for his team and had a good game. The final score was
26-9. The other team was 9 at the half and didn’t get another point in for the
rest of the game. With his Superleague team, Callahan will be traveling around
the valley a bit. His next game is Wednesday at Bonneville Jr. High. It
will be interesting to go back to where Gray and I went so many years ago! So
if grandparents wanted to hit a game, that wouldn’t be much for travel for
them! Unfortunately the hour is a bit late ... 9:00! That’s past MY bedtime!
Callahan will have his first Jr. Jazz game tomorrow as will
Keaton. The schedule is pretty tight with Callahan’s game at 11:00, Keaton’s
game at 12:00, and Landon starting his shift at 1:00 (until 6:00). Grayson was
scheduled to work but I didn’t think I could swing all this without him, so he
arranged to go in a little later to help out (thank you Gray!).
With Landon being one of the youngest refs, and this being
his first year, we all assumed he would be given an “easy” assignment
(kindergarten, or 1st/2nd, where you just need to call traveling or double
dribble, and then only after a totally obvious infraction). But ... he was
requested by a staffer (who knows him from school) so will be trying his hand
at 5th grade boys! I’m a bit nervous about that, as he needs to know
EVERYTHING and emotions may very well run quite high with both kids and
parents. We’ll see how it goes.
So, it’s busy busy basketball for the Blackham boys!
