West Coast Westra Update-- 4/16/18

Hello Family!

It's been a while since we've written...not for lack of content by any means, but I'll try to keep this concise-ish.

• The World Traveler: Shane seems to be done traveling for the time being. He had almost back to back trips to the Netherlands in late March and early April, which eliminated any desire he may have had to travel for a while (good thing we went to Hawaii before those trips!)
• Spring Break: The kids were out of school last week for Spring Break. We tried to get out and do some fun things throughout the week. We went kayaking at the lagoon on the warmest day, out to lunch with Shane, bowling, planted a planter box for the front porch, and went to the ceramics shop to paint some projects. 
• Elders Quorum Changes: Shane was released from his calling as Elders Quorum President...then was promptly recalled as president for the new Quorum. 
• Swim Lesson Changes: We decided a few weeks ago to switch Calder from group swimming lessons to private lessons for a while to help him make some faster progress. He had his first private lesson on Friday and it seems to be a positive move so far. 
• Friends Moving: One of our favorite families in the ward is moving to Utah next month, so we had them over for dinner yesterday. They are one of the families whose kids get along well with our kids and we get along well with the parents. We jokingly call them "California cousins" and have gone on lots of adventures together. We're trying to convince them to move to Lindon. 
• Friends Coming: Today we welcomed our Foreign Exchange Student from France. Noah is 15 and a huge Golden State Warriors fan, so we snagged some tickets to the playoff game at Oracle Arena tonight to surprise him. He was so excited! Shane and Adria went to the game with him. He's a nice kid...very polite and friendly. I've been emailing his mom over the past couple of weeks, so I've been getting to know her as well. Noah will be with us through the 29th. The following weekend Adria's best friend Lilly and her mom will be coming to stay with us for the U2 concert in San Jose (which Adria, Shane, and I are going to as well...we got tickets all together.)
