It's been a while since we've written! Here is a quick summary of what we've been up to:
- New car for Adria: Adria's 1998 Chrysler Cirrus (a.k.a. "The Onion") starting overheating too frequently, and so she bought Alicia's dad's Jeep Liberty from him as a replacement.
- Adria turned 17 on November 2! She's been enjoying spending time with friends, and is on two indoor soccer teams.
- St. George Trip: We had a great time in St. George (it was fun to see all of you that also came), and Jaiden was fantastic in Spongebob and Janelle did a great job with her talk in sacrament meeting.
- Rella is still dancing up a storm! She cleans the dance studio on Monday nights to get money off of her tuition, and dances Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday morning, and with her school dance team too.
- Calder turned 10! In lieu of a party, he and his friend Gwen Gaskin went mini golfing.
- New House Update: Framers are working on the upper level, and should be starting on the roof soon. We're hoping it will be "dried in" by Christmas. We met Mom and Dad and Camden at the new house today and did a walk-through.
- New Callings: Alicia has been called to be the Ward Chorister, and I've been called to be the Sunday School President.
- SimpleNexus Acquisition: The company I work for, SimpleNexus, is being acquired for $1.2 billion. The acquiring company is called nCino, out of Wilmington, North Carolina. I've been on the team working on this deal for months now, so I'm glad we finally got the agreement signed. We're really excited for this exit, we got a fantastic multiple (over 20x current contracted revenue) and it is a much better outcome than we ever anticipated. It will be good for me financially too...definitely not early-retirement worthy, but we'll at least be able to finish the basement of the new house, and if all goes well, we'll be able to get out of debt (again) within 5 years.
- Sad news: One of my best friends from high school, Phillip Chipping, was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer yesterday. It has spread to his liver, lungs, and hip bone already. I'm still shocked over this, and feel so bad for him and his family.
- Thanksgiving Plans: We're hosting Thanksgiving dinner for Mom and Dad and Alicia's two brothers. Thursday late afternoon or early evening, we'll drive to Moab and spend a few days hiking and biking; coming back late Saturday night.
We hope all is well with all of you!
Shane, Alicia, Adria, Rella, and Calder
