Meteor

  • From Jen: Did you all hear about the meteor last night? I have no idea why I happened to wake up right before it happened (just after midnight) but I was awake and saw the flash. I didn't know what it was until I saw the news this morning.
  • From Mom: No, we haven't heard about the meteor. Maybe I did see it. I do remember a bright flash while lying in bed. It was probably about that time, and I almost said to LaMar that it seemed very bright for just a car's headlights turning around in the circle. Was it that bright? Usually they are just a streak across the sky.
  • From Jen: Yes, the flash last night was VERY bright. There is coverage on ksl.com. For a couple of seconds, it was like the night was day. We've blocked off our windows pretty well, and I may have still been a little asleep, because it didn't really startle me (as some people have been reporting). We have a backyard neighbor whose floodlight shines really bright right into our bedroom window, so I wondered if it was that (I did look at the clock to see what time it was). http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=8714738
  • From Derek: Everyone has been talking about this at work today. I was going to send out an email and ask if any of you saw it. Danielle's brother saw it and a few people from work happened to be looking out their window at that time and saw everything light up as if it were the middle of the day. :) Kind of interesting! I watched the KSL video as well, and was amazed at how bright it was!
  • From Shane: I don’t think we noticed the light, but Leashee and I both heard a strange boom sound last night – I don’t remember the exact time, but it was probably around the right time. Pretty cool!
  • From Wendy: Dang! Us sleepyheads must have missed the whole thing!
  • From Chris: Sandy saw it - she was up in the night coughing and our whole field lit up!
