Lindon Update : Jan/Feb 2020

Hello family!

 Quick update from the Westras in Lindon...

• Calder started Occupational Therapy in January and swimming lessons in February. He's tolerating being bored at school and loves to run out to the backyard to climb his favorite tree. We're trying to get him warmed up to the idea of piano lessons, but he would rather take drum lessons.
• Rella has been dancing like crazy, but is starting tennis practice tomorrow after school for some variety. She has a dance concert coming up at the end of this month (the 26th) if anyone is interested in coming to see it. She auditioned for the Ballet West Summer Intensive and was accepted to the ArtEmotion intensive that they hold in Cleveland. She decided that she would rather attend the intensive at her studio here, but she will be going to a special edition EFY in Nauvoo with one of her friends from California in August, so she'll get to travel a bit after all.
• Adria joined a club soccer team and is working hard to improve her skills. She is preparing to try out for the girls soccer team at Timpanogos High School at the end of July. She is enjoying her art and business electives this semester. She's also been studying extra French with our next door neighbor, who is a great-grandma from Belgium. Adria and her friend go over once a week for French lessons, chocolate, and gum.
• Alicia is working on expanding her photography business and trying to decide whether she should rebrand the whole thing with a more professional sounding name. She changes out the home reader books for a couple classes at the elementary school once a week and just finished a month of ski lessons at Sundance. Her proudest accomplishment of the month was going skiing all by herself last week and being able to relax and enjoy it.
• Shane has been busy at work and at home...he's completed our stair railing project and is making great progress on our fireplace. It's looking really good. He's enjoyed our family ski trips as well as a couple ski days with Adria at Sundance.
• The Family Car...as many of you know, we ordered a Kia Telluride several months ago. It finally arrived about a month ago and we are enjoying our new car! It has snazzy features and a smoother ride than our Highlander. We sold the Highlander to a dealership nearby and are happy to be done with car shopping and selling for a while.
• Family Ski Trips...we took a couple ski trips to Eagle Point (near Beaver) in January and February. Shane, Adria, and Calder are all ski adrenaline junkies. Rella and Alicia like the easy runs.
• Family Jam Sessions...Shane on guitar, Adria on mandolin, Rella on bass, and Calder on Xylophone. Good times.
