Hey Family!
It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon here in Redwood Shores! The sun has returned and we've hit the low 70's over the past few days. It's been so nice! Here's what's been going on this past week...

Monday was a crazy busy day! The girls headed off to school, Shane headed to work, and Calder had his first speech appointment with Shamim at 9. Speech appointments are hard work for Calder! He has to move his mouth a lot and in different ways than he is used to, but he is good at cooperating. After speech he and I went to cocoa club for some socializing, then we went almost straight to school. It was a whirlwind morning! I went to my class at the YMCA. After school, Rella had a make up dance class (for one of the classes she missed during outdoor ed) then all three kids and I headed over to Shane's office to pick him up. We headed into the city to meet my cousin, Patrick Cragun, at Pier 39 for dinner. He and his family currently live in Maine, but have lived in Virginia, Mexico, and Brazil. It's been several years since I've seen him in person, so it was fun to get together and catch up. The kids were troopers, doing most of their homework in the car. We managed to get home by 9:30, so it wasn't as late of a night as it could have been.

Tuesday was a normal day for the most part. School, work, dance class...I went to a girls night at a ward member's house. We talked about clothes and caught up on stuff. She has a son who has some speech problems as well. He'll be in kindergarten with Calder next fall.

Wednesday is the girls' early out day...it's a little funny to have the girls home, but Calder gone in the afternoon. Adria started a swimming technique class that meets at the same time as Calder's swimming lesson (and at the same place). Calder and I had gone to Costco in the morning to find a swimsuit for her (because she is growing like a weed!) The swimming classes went well. Rella came along and did homework out in the lobby. They have tables and chairs set up for siblings to do homework on, toys and books for younger children, and bleachers for parents to sit on while they observe lessons. It's a good swimming school. Rella got a lot of her homework done there, as well as a little Portuguese practice with one of our friends from the ward. Her son is in class at the same time as Calder, too. Wednesday evening was YW...just a fun In-N-Out run for burgers or shakes.

Thursday was full of the normal activities. Dance and Ukulele, school, work. Shane had a late night at work with a buggy release. One of our former neighbors from Lindon dropped by for a visit. He and his family live in Texas now, but he was in town on business. His daughter, Mayra, is a friend of Rella's from the Portuguese program days.

On Friday, Calder had a playdate in the afternoon with his friend Carlon. His mom has a new baby (5 weeks old), so we help out by picking Carlon up for playdates and having him come to our house for a few hours. We made cookies, played with toys, and went to the purple park. Carlon is a good friend for Calder. They are close in age and will both be in kindergarten next year (though in different schools). Carlon is a good speech model for Calder and is patient while listening to Calder. They both like to run around and play, so they have a good time. Adria went to a birthday party for her friend Becky at a trampoline place in San Carlos. Rella watched Calder so Shane and I could go on a date to Jack's Prime, a burger place over in San Mateo.

Yesterday was the first Saturday in a while that we didn't have a ton of stuff scheduled. It was so nice! The girls played outside most of the day (and took Calder with them for a while). They had a picnic, played with friends, and built a fort at the park. Adria had a babysitting job for my VT-er in the evening. She watched 3 year old Rhoda for 4 hours. We weren't sure how it would go, since Rhoda is generally pretty wary of babysitters. Things went well for the first hour, but there were adventures with the family cat at bedtime (the cat hid under Rhoda's bed and Rhoda didn't want him there). Then just before the parents got home, Rhoda woke up from a nightmare and had to be calmed down. Adria was pretty relieved when they got home, but had a good experience over all. I talked with Rhoda's mom at church...Rhoda has been talking non-stop about Adria all morning, which is unprecedented! Rella bought some shrinky-dinks with an amazon gift card and has been getting creative with them yesterday and today.

It was early to rise for Shane this morning...he was representing the EQ presidency at meetings this morning. Combine that with Daylight Savings and it made for a super early morning! I like daylight savings for Calder though...he's been getting up so early this week. It was nice that he didn't get up until 7:30 this morning. The kids and I all hurried to get ready for church. We had a sister missionary return this week, so she reported on her mission. Our home teachers are coming in a bit, then Adria and I will go to a fireside this evening. We got the game "Curses" this week, so we played a round after lunch. I won by sheer will of not talking!

That's it for this week. Have a great day!

Shane, Alicia, Adria, Rella, Calder
