- Basketball: Colton had a tournament, the Rocky Mountain Showcase. The "showcase tournament" was actually Thurs/Fri/Sat, and Tues/Wed were "team camp". I honestly don't know what the difference was. Tues/Wed was just games like the weekend would be. It was rather pricey, so the team did an impromptu car wash on Monday. 18 boys participating (freshman - seniors) and they made over $1000. So that was $60 for each boy, not bad for about four hours of work, even if it was out in the hot sun (toward the $180 for the week). Colton is a freshman, so playing on that team. And the sophomore team. And Coach wanted him for the JV team, but JV played at the same time as the sophs. But Coach pulled Colton twice to play with the varsity. Yes, Colton is pretty good, but it still surprised me that he picked Colton instead of the other Sophomore/JV players. Colton even got some playing time in the varsity games. He played in five games on Tuesday. Six games on Wednesday. Whew! On Wednesday he and I left at 8:00 and didn't get home until 7:00. But then, the health department shut the whole thing down Wednesday night ... (more on that in a minute). So far I'm made a video of one game. https://youtu.be/
WfozKzrjRv0 - Beach: Gray and the crew hit Pineview this weekend. Coop and I sat it out, although we'll try to make it up once this summer (we're both self-conscious in swimsuits and not really fans of riding waverunners). Only a couple hiccups this first trip out ... both machines died out on the water (old gas, worked once flushed) and a lost key (the waverrunners come with two, a "beginner" and "regular" ... Landon wiped out and the key pulled out and sank. They could still use the beginner key, but it limits speed). They went out bright and early, which is necessary, as it fills up pretty quick (and then people are turned away).
- Truck: Gray is a truck guy. I'd always wondered why he bought the Sequoia. Up until the accident last fall, we still had a truck in the family at least. Well now, the Sequoia has been traded in for a new truck. I haven't gone for a ride in it yet, but I think I'll need a ladder to get in. #lifted Two of our neighbors were over almost immediately to admire it and commented to Keaton "your dad always wins" #keepingupwiththejoneses
- Activities: Gray still had some social this week, out to dinner (dining in, oooohhh!) Monday, and then a comedy show Saturday. Keaton and Colton went to Aunt Olivia for haircuts, and then Olivia took Colton and Ana's boys to a movie. Movies are back ... sort of. It was an older one. Colton said they were the only ones in the theater. Gray has been to a movie once too ... a client rented out the theater. At home ... Gray and I finished Hamilton.
- Washer/Dryer: I mentioned last week that we gave our old washer/dryer to Cal and Kate. We got the new ones installed this week. There's actually an app that works with these, but I haven't delved into that yet. No more white #goingGray
- Garden: Is growing ... but I do have to wonder if it's worth it, as I planted more out of habit (I had a garden for the ducks the last few years). Already my zucchini has grown too big (there are some in the neighborhood I can give it to). I've tried to pick and partake of some of the peas, and will try to get the beans when they are ready. Tomatoes are growing, as are the pumpkin vines.
- Shopping Shifts: Without Callahan living here ... I need to adjust my shopping! I loaded up some groceries (Almond Milk, wheat bread, oranges, Quorn) that I'd bought too much of, that he was the one eating. It was easier to keep fruit fresh when he was around, because he would go through it and I'd restock. Now the apples are a little old and the bananas go bad before we get to them.
- Covid: So the Rocky Mountain Showcase(basketball) was shut down, because someone LAST week, playing in the Big Mountain Jam, had tested positive for Covid-19. Not really surprising, as even scaled down, it was a lot of people. While the person who tested positive might be some random individual, it has hit much closer to home. One of Colton's teammates on his Wolves team (which played in BMJ last week) has tested positive. A fluke that he even got tested (some family exposure, the whole family got tested) because he doesn't have any symptoms. One of the varsity player's mom on the high school team has also tested positive.
From Scott:
Ok, I am always getting called on the carpet when I come home and say so-and-so had a baby and I can’t give any details about the news (gender, weight, length, time in labor, hair, cuteness, how mom is doing, etc.). Apparently these arcane facts are of interest/importance to some people.
The reverse has happened here as Jeni casually drops the fact that there is a new addition in the Blackham family without hardly ANY of the pertinent and EXTREMELY important details. From the photos I think I see a black F-150. Am I to assume that is the new addition?. Here is what I need to know:
Year:
Make:
Model:
Trim:
Special packages/options (FX4, etc.):
Engine (cylinders, displacement, turbo or normally aspirated):
Transmission: - number of gears and differential ratio, pretty sure it is automatic
Miles:
Leather/cloth?
Lift (in inches or centimeters – I am not fussy)
Any aftermarket components? Bedliner, bed cover, exhaust, etc.
Seriously Jen. More photos of the truck would be nice. No offense but we already know what your cute family looks like. Maybe you could just scan in the window sticker.
By the way, I am trading in a bunch of Company cars in the next few months. No one drives them anymore since no one comes into work.
2018 Honda Pilot Elite white 24,000 miles $32,000
2016 Honda Odyssey EXL grey 25,000 miles $20,000
2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited black 27,000 miles $13,000
2016 Honda Accord (cloth) white 34,000 miles $13,000
Employees will get first shot, Prices are non-negotiable – that is what the dealer quoted us in trade. Sales tax, dealer doc fee (about $300) and title and registration (about $180) on top of the sale price. Let me know if you are interested and I will let you know if they become available. Several employees have been interested in the Pilot and Odyssey but they have backed out.
