Mom's Messages in July

*****July 5th, 2020
That small plane that crashed in Utah County a couple days ago, killing the 4 passengers-----the married couple in the plane was Steve Woolston's sister Elaine and her husband. So that is sad.

We had a nice day yesterday on the 4th. Scott and Amy came over and brought dinner. Then later we were invited to D & D's to view fireworks from their deck and they had donuts and a cooler of cans of pop. They have a great close view of the big fireworks display at Thanksgiving point, plus you can see further fireworks from all over the valley!  Danielle's parents were invited also and it is always nice to be with them. D & D have a new cement pad under their deck and had a ping-pong table set up, so we played games on it. They have two cute hanging swinging chairs---he'll have to send all of you some pictures. We could see the little pointed peak of one of their baby hummingbirds that nested in their rope swing right on their front porch

And we get to be with Shane's family today, so that will be fun.

Off to my swim, as I just had breakfast:-)...................

Have a great Sabbath......Chris's ward meeting for the first time today. We still haven't heard anything from our ward.......

Hi Kids,

We've had a nice week, seeing Scott and Amy, Derek's family, and Shane's family. We got to see Shane and Alicia's new lot. And Derek worked here Thurs. and Fri. helping us.

Camden said he is feeling pretty good. His symptoms have been a sore throat, some congestion, and fatigue. He got tested at a drive-through testing place in Sugar House about Tues. and heard back in one day that he tested positive. Cases and deaths in Utah have been escalating.

So Cayson is able to keep staying at Chris's house longer, which makes Chris and Cayson happy. He was supposed to go back to his mom's on Sun.

Chris and Kim are on another little weekend getaway out in the boonies somewhere away from people. So Cayson is staying with Corin and Kylie for a couple days.

My cousin Frank Brady, in Price, emailed me yesterday that his dad, Lloyd Brady (Bertha's husband) had died. He would have been 100 years old next month! He was the last one out of my mom's/Zada's siblings and their spouses. Both the Howell side and the Norman side send me the news because I have the best group email lists to send information out to extended family. Since Chris, Wendy, & Jeni have been working so much on our family projects, they will be able to picture Lloyd and Bertha, standing by their car, when they were dating or just married.

You older kids knew Jane Sheffield in Jamestown. She was just in the obituaries, age 85. And some of you went to Woodstock when Clifford DeGraw was Principal there. He was in the Obituaries the same day, around age 87.

The weatherman first said it would be 111 deg. in St. George tomorrow, then lowered it clear down to 110 degrees today and tomorrow--yowie!  100 deg. here.

Love to you all! Mom

From Jen: I remember Principal DeGraw ... well maybe not real memories of him, but the name and face. Sorry to hear about Camden. Hope his is an easy case and it doesn't spread to anyone else in the house. Colton played in a basketball tournament last week and the start of this week. It was unexpectedly canceled due to Covid. Rumor was that someone last week had tested positive. It was a big tournament, so not surprising that one person out of a thousand or more would. But it has since come closer to home. We heard yesterday that the mom of one of the varsity players had tested positive (Colton played with the varsity team Tues/Wed ... not sure if the mom came to watch), and now just heard that one of Colton's teammates has tested positive (who he played with last weekend). So we'll be keeping an eye on Colton and trying to stay more sanitized at our house. I know some get tested right away, others wait until they show a symptom? Coop had a cough and a slight fever a bit ago (more than two weeks) and if it had been ANYONE else in the family we would have got them tested. But as Coop had only left the house about twice in months and months, the chances were so negligible (and that HE, not anyone else who has been out so much more), and I feared it would be traumatic for him (just the anxiety issues and doctor dread already). He is not autistic, but what do they do if they need to test someone with a mental handicap who would not be cooperative?

From Wendy: Thanks for the update! Yes I remember Jane Sheffield and Clifford DeGraw (at least the name and face). That is good that Camden just has mild symptoms. Hopefully it doesn’t spread to more family members. I love the picture of Bertha and Lloyd that Jen attached. Yes it is HOT here! Good thing we have a pool!
