It has been about a month since my last update! Here are some of the events from this past month...

- Father's Day Flee: We stayed at a cabin at Pine Valley. Our theme was "Creating Conduits of Revelation." Activities consisted of awesome lessons, games, activities, paint-balling, paddle boats, murder in the dark, hiking, family photo shoot, and delicious meals! Rick went all out on the food! It was a fun time!
- Father's Day Party: It was great to see everyone! Thank you to Scott and Amy for hosting it!
- Josh California Trip: Josh got invited to California for a few days with his friend's family. The older kids couldn't believe that we actually let him go and said that we must really be "loosening up" with our younger kids! He had a great time and is in the process of writing a detailed description of the trip on my blog.
Josh Goes to Cali ...
- Josh also got invited to go boating at Gunlock Reservoir with his soccer team! He has also been training for Cross Country and ran clear to the temple and back with his team! (Ten miles!!)
- Fourth of July: BBQ, Pool Volleyball, Fireworks with the Williams.
Hiking, exploring, games, roasting roasted hotdogs and marshmallows, scary stories!
It was nice to get out of the heat and spend time with family and friends!
Other News:
- Jaiden passed her driver's test!! (on Wednesday July 1st). Unfortunately due to Covid-19 the Driver's License Division is really behind on scheduling appointments. We are on the "call-back" list, but it has been a week and a half and we are still waiting for them to get back with us so that we can set up an appointment! Jaiden is extremely anxious to get it! Jaiden also starts training for her job tomorrow as a WSI (Water Safety Instructor) for the city of St. George.
- Internships. Jaiden and Janelle both signed up to do Internships through their school.( Jaiden for Physical Therapy and Janelle for Occupational Therapy). They have been busy attending workshops and updating their resumes and setting up Linked In accounts. So if you have received a Linked In request from them that is why!
- Janelle has been working and hanging out with friends. She just got called to be the President of her YW class age 17-18. She has a double date going night hiking tomorrow night at Chuck Walla.
- Party House: Our house has been the friend "party house" lately with smallish movie parties and swim parties. It was all fine until the boy party in the pool (Josh's friends) started bugging the girl party in the basement (Jaiden's friends) which ended up with brownies thrown and squished into the carpet. We had to set up some ground rules after that!
- Jared sprained his knee playing basketball a couple of weeks ago and after an Instacare visit was put in a brace that he is supposed to wear for at least three weeks. He is still donating at BioLife a couple times a week and is working at Caption Call. He likes it fine and can get some reading done between calls. Our neighbors gave us a treadmill. Rick was really against it saying that he didn't want to turn our basement into a gym. But all of the kids voted for it and I voted with the kids and so now we have a treadmill! So far it has gotten a lot of use.
- Jase and Ellen just signed up with "Door Dash" in addition to their regular jobs. They can just check the app for available deliveries and click the app and go pick up the delivery from the store or restaurant or whatever and deliver it to the person who made the order. Jase said that he really likes it! He and Ellen can go separately to get more deliveries/money or go together to visit and spend time together while also earning a little money. It is a small base rate but they also often get paid tips. So the pay varies, but Jase said that so far it has averaged out to be about $15.00 an hour. The other college-age kids might want to look into it!
- Janika and Brandon -- Brandon graduated from USU and is applying at various jobs. They sent us a funny video of Brandon's "Virtual Graduation"
We don't have too much else going on in July. Rick and I might do a little overnighter for our Anniversary at the end of the month. Our family is going to Bear Lake with the extended Jensen Family the first weekend in August. Hope everyone is doing well! Wendy
From Jen: I had glanced at your blog the other day and say the Josh-California and was a little surprised he was out there with friends! I've let Colton go with his basketball team (they've had Vegas and Idaho tournaments). I think there is some loosening up in parenting, but there is also the "he's my BABY" feeling! They have another Idaho trip planned in a couple weeks, but that will likely be impacted by the Covid-19 diagnosis of one of the team members. A second team member spiked a fever yesterday, so he went in for a test ... awaiting results. They had a California trip on the calendar, but I do have to agree that out of all the sports, basketball might be the least Covid friendly (inside, contact). Sorry for Jared's knee. Knee braces are a pain, very encumbering! Keaton said Jared noticed the "biolife" needle marks on Keaton at the Father's Day party. Plasma people! ;) I'll mention to Cal that Jared is working Caption Call (Cal didn't like it). You know the Blackhams have a gym in the basement ... I've still been using it daily, but losing the fight against weight :( Congrats to Jaiden on passing her DL test. Coop still shows no interest. Colton will probably get his learners before Coop does, IF Coop ever does.
